Knights and Ladies of Security praised for growth and grants

The Knights and Ladies of Security announce strong financials and expansion. As of January 1 1800 the order held $310,000 in mortuary land securities, $20,000 in claims against the order, and $19,000 in other debts. The Topeka Daily Capital lauds the body as a major regional financial force, noting $415,000 added to reserves this year, monthly disbursements around $20,000, fourteen state councils, and a seven-year history from eleven members. Local examiner Dr A Cottingham is cited. membership costs include the medical exam. Members Mrs D M Hickerson, Mrs W Eddings, Mrs W M Palmer, Mrs S P Cresap, and Mrs L W McKinney depart for Mexico for a Missionary meeting of the M E Church South, with others sailing the next day.

Tornado and prairie fire devastate Nebraska farms

A tornado and prairie fire struck northern Nebraska counties around Coloridus on May 2, burning hay fields and threatening hundreds of farms. Two deaths are confirmed, Mrs Rolla Livington and her five year old son, killed while fleeing through stock. Losses total about 120000 dollars with many other damages unreported. Farmers battled flames after the twister passed.

Dowey Day Entertainment at Nngineord Hall Delights Crowd

Crowds gathered for a Dowey Day show at Nngineord Hall benefitting W. JO. fan F. Howe Port. The Dewey Marines, led by Capt. Mix, wowed with precise spring evolutions by Moberly’s charming daughters. The program earned praise and hopes for a profitable repeat.
