City of Moberly Adopts Prison Ordinance for City Jail

The council enacts an ordinance establishing and governing a city jail within Moberly Missouri. Hilger Murder Trial Opens in Henry County Court

Mrs Josephine Hilger stands trial for the murder of her husband William Hilger of Kooppo le i in Henry County Circuit Court at Kewanos. She testified at the inquest that she shot him as he slept on Sunday afternoon October 28 1900. He struggled for the revolver and she fled as he bled dying. Neighbors were not alerted until about an hour later. The defense claims insanity as the motive. Mrs Hilger is young and married only six months.

Jessie Morrison, charged with murder of Mrs. Olin Caatlo, remained in jail in Colorado Kansas yesterday after a default bail set at 7,000. The county attorney presented a petition seeking new witnesses as Morrison sobbed in court during the June term proceeding. Bond expected to be secured for the prisoner.
