Denver Gor Sells Famous Atlantic Pacific Tunnel in 1880s Tale
In a Denver dispatch the Atlantic and Pacific tunnel, begun in 1880 by Mark M. Pomeroy and 5800 feet long, was sold today by a Chancery Court special commissioner for 4100. Pomeroy, once publisher of Pomerys Democrat and Great West, built plans for a double tracked line to the Pacific but the venture failed and litigation followed until this sale. A new company forms to complete the tunnel and link it to railroads while preserving the mineral veins.
