Train conductors take over fare collection on Wabash

System to end collector service today with the last trip. Passenger conductors on the Wabash are informed to prepare to begin collecting all tickets and fares tomorrow morning. About 18 to 20 collectors on Western and St Louis divisions will retire, including the department head in St Louis.

Bitten by a Monkey Injures Local Boy at Park

Master Ben Devereaux, son of Geo Devereaux, was bitten and scratched by a chained monkey yesterday afternoon while the animal passed near him. The injury was dressed and the boy, though frightened, showed no serious effects and was out today sightseeing.

Four-Year-Old Hurt After Fall From Buggy

Little Misa Martha Martin, four, daughter of Mr and Mrs Forrest Martin, was injured yesterday afternoon when she fell from a buggy at about four o clock while riding with her mother near Little Dick's clothing store. She struck the wheel and suffered a painful cut over her right eye.

Peter Fox died this morning at 1 15 at his home No crs 1 2 Fast Coates street aged 55. He was a pioneering Moberly resident serving on the city council first blacksmith and foreman at the Wabash shop. Survived by three children Mrs M Doherty Win Fox and Tom Fox. Funeral Thursday at 3 pm from St Johns church with burial at St Marys.

Florence Hotel Fire Alarm Averted In Store Room

A small blaze in the Florence hotel building was checked when burning papers in a jeweler G. W. Chage store room stove ignited the floor. Employees extinguished the fire before damage or alarm could spread.

Kirby Bound Over In Police Court Morning Case

Garlandas Wirly, a Black man who struck Jerry Withers with a rock Saturday night between Moharly and Hunteville, was bound over to the next term of Circuit Court and placed in the county jail this morning. Withers remains in very dangerous condition. Mr Mickels, the Macon undertaker, was in the city today.

Fatal Shooting at Mine 66 in Ardmore

A fatal shooting occurred at Ardmore in Macon county this morning at Mine 66. Jack Plummer shot Posey Dail amid an old grudge. Dail spoke once after being shot. Officers tried to arrest Plummer, who opened fire, exchanging 25 to 30 shots and was killed. Both victims were miners at Mine 66.

Emma Frisbie died at 10:30 this morning after a prolonged illness at her West Rolling Street home. She was 25, wife of James Frisbie a Wabash conductor, and mother of a 16 day old child. Remains to Wellsville tonight at 9:30 for funeral tomorrow. Proceeds from a sale benefit charitable causes with cakes sold at low prices.

Died in Kansas City man brought to Moberly for burial

E T Jones died in Kansas City after a lingering pneumonia illness. Remains to be sent on No 2 at 145 tomorrow afternoon for a brief funeral at Union Station, with interment in Oakland Cemetery. He was HH A Hatfield's brother in law and lived in Moberly about 15 years ago. His wife and two sons accompany the body.
