A fragmented Desockat Iron note from Moberly and Macon describes a dispute involving a spouse and a baby and a go cart incident. The account recalls a prior four week earlier event where Mrs Blees allegedly knocked the narrator down and overturned a go cart bruising both, with the claim of no serious injury.
Robinson's Book Store report notes no serious injuries after an incident caused by a glare from Mrs. J. N. Rea in Macon Missouri. The item highlights new wallpaper patterns and low prices to attract customers.
A large reception on South Clark Street honored Mr and Mrs Ed May on their twenty fifth anniversary with about 400 invites. About 225 guests attended as music and elegant refreshments accompanied by roses and a central cake recalling their 25 year marriage. A later fire on Hust Rolling Street damaged a neighboring home and possessions, while heroics saved a wife and child.
Funeral services for Miss Helen Victor were conducted at the family graveyard on the Eagle farm near Middle Grove after a transfer from Columbia. The interment followed a service led by Reverend Williams of Canton, with the body brought to Moberly from Columbia the previous evening and kept at Cecil Croft’s home on South Morley Street before burial.
Yesterday at the Van BP Lall circus in Mexico the event honored Harry Clark the head clown, a longtime member of the ring and a tile member of three Judges. About seventy five Eagles attended as guests of the show’s proprietor Wo. I. Hall, with the court extended as a compliment to Mr. Clark.
H Abington an old Confederate veteran and resident of 115 Thompson street died last night at seven after a ten year illness. He came to Moberly 25 years ago and leaves a wife, one brother, three sisters, and many friends. Funeral at 3 pm today from his residence, Rev R F Campbell presiding, burial in Forlsett tomorrow at 6am.
Madison, known as Ito San Antonio, Texas, wired from the city that his sister died before he could reach her bedside. He will remain to attend the funeral as many Motherly friends extend sympathy in his loss.
Fred Myers reports a letter from Mr. Zeiler of Zeiler's orchestra stating plans changed and it will be impossible to bring the orchestra this Wednesday June 7. The cancellation affects the special girls session and the ball that younger members of the organization were to host on that date.
Miss Mayme Baasett hosted the Bon Ami Club at Mrs Bettle Hunter's South Fourth street home last evening. All members attended and enjoyed a pleasant evening with music and refreshments. Benie Robinson won the strawberry contest prize. Rev J Bollman praised Morberly as enterprising and beautiful after touring forty towns for the prison reform movement.
The Hoplist Church board has not reached a conclusion on the type of chapel to build on the old West Rotlins site. The project aims for a rapid start once decisions are made, with the main obstacle being whether to use brick or stone. Attends parade, Cameron visits Moberly, and remarks on a former official’s health appear in the fragment.
Mrs Nelf Walker of South Fifth street reports that the remains of Frank French who died at Fulton yesterday will be brought to Moberly for burial. French lived in Moberly until three years ago then moved to St Joseph, where he became mentally unsound and was taken to Fulton asylum where he died. He had a brother JW French near the city who works as a carpenter. Also, James W Garner sues to force the telephone company to adopt a price scale for business and residential service, which the city council ordinance had approved, contending the fixed rates were too low and challenging the city's right to set rates.
The Missouri Supreme Court ruled in Jefferson City that cities may compel the Missouri and Kansan Telephone Company to place wires underground if desired, but cities cannot regulate the company’s rates. The Kansas City case stems from mandamus proceedings.
A large influx of visitors arrived in the city for the circus with a notable list including Miss Beatrice Fairfield, Miss Gertrude Russel, James Ragsdale, Thomas Cameron and daughter Minnie of Huntsville, W. M. Ragsdale and family of Renick, J. L. Landram of Cairo, Ellis Rucker, Frank Bruton, T. I D. Moss, Dr. W. A. Robinson, Will Hawkins, Lee Logsdon, Mr. Beard and wife of Sturgeon, Jas. Truesdale, John Spellman, Uncle Joe Trimble of Clark, and Orb Todd of Madison.
Local merchant L O Thompson of Middle Grove conducted business in town yesterday, engaging in routine commerce and transactions with area customers.
