The ad promotes alarm clocks and a selection from Seth Thomas and Kitch and Clocks. Young The Jeweler invites customers to call or visit for clock repairs or purchases at 315 Reed Street.
Engineer Charles Kitchen, recently at Hamilton Iowa, married Miss Dot Williams yesterday in Moberly Court House by Judge A H Waller. Miss Williams cared for Kitchen’s child after his first wife’s death and is described as accomplished and popular. The couple plans to acknowledge the marriage today.
The Stanley Coal company of Sedalia secured a controlling interest in the Inter-State coal mine at Higbee. A syndicate of coal dealers formed to purchase the Inter-State mine, completing the deal Tuesday. The purchase includes 1,000 acres of coal land, buildings, machinery and franchises.
Sympathy extends to Henry Spurling who may lose sight after a nail struck his eye while nailing. He received treatment at St. Louis and is in danger of losing sight in the other eye. James Jones reported the incident and its grave impact on Spurling’s vision.
The Order of Railroad Telegraphers failed to secure a meeting in St. Louis with General Superintendent H L McGee. He refused to deal with the committee and urged individual telegraphers and station agents to send their names and requests for immediate consideration. The union claims 90 percent membership and lower pay versus other departments.
The First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor and members, arrange a series of evangelistic services led by Rev J C Redding starting Wednesday January 27 and running for two weeks. Redding, highly regarded, worked with Moody in Chicago during the World’s Fair and now serves under the General Assembly Evangelistic Committee.
Message states tax bills from Fifth Street and Wightman Street have been left at Mechanics Bank for collection and asks for protection, signed by 55-52 Joun .layncu.
The Commercial club executive committee met last night and granted use of club rooms to the Sorosis ladies for February 11. The Farmers institute committee received more time and authority to set a date and report progress next meeting. Auditing and member list work was extended. A future published list of paying business and civic members is planned. The first open night for ladies is tonight with an informal reception. members urged to attend with their ladies. Eleven new members joined since the year began.
Emma Stephens of this city sues Conductor Clarence Deskin in Randolph county circuit court for 5000 damages alleging a January 16 slander by the conductor. She says the remarks damaged her character and standing, forcing her to plead in court, with trial set for the next term.

Nangas City packing house meat and courteous service are advertised. a trial order aims to make customers regular. Dr G O Cappaidgé was called near Middle Grove today to perform a surgical operation.

Dr. W. S. Woods of Kansas City and J. W. Rubey have purchased a controlling stake in the Bank of Moberly. Management remains, Babcock stays. Rubey plans to move to Moberly to join the bank’s leadership. The new investors bring strong financial backing to the city.
At a Mine Workers of America meeting in Indianapolis President Mitchell named Geo Colville as district president and member of the scale committee while Geo Manuel became district secretary treasurer and a member of the officers reports committee. The appointments are described as high honors.
A 47 year old man was run over and killed by a street car in Kansas City Tuesday night. His body, badly crushed, was at Wagner's undertaking rooms awaiting identification. A Mobery pawn ticket for a watch and the initials R N V tattooed on his arm suggest he may have been a stranger in Moberly and pawned the watch during a train stop.
The Altar Society of St Johns church held a well attended social at Randolph Social Club hall last night. Guests enjoyed dancing and conversation as the ladies raised a good sum for beautifying the church altar.
