The Ladies of the first M I church hosted a Washington's Birthday gathering entertaining many guests with an impromptu program. There was no formal address, reflecting a birthday party mood. Refreshments were dainty and plentiful, with candied cherries on the cake.

The Sisters of Loretto hosted a Mayflower Hall bazaar with an elegant 66 o'clock dinner drawing hundreds. Today hundreds enjoyed turkey dinner with side lines. a quarter price meal is planned tonight and tomorrow. Proceeds expected to be substantial as the event continues through tomorrow with dances and drawings each night.

Death of Mary Reed's husband in Independence Colorado

Moberly residents mourn the death of Mary Reed's spouse from pneumonia in Independence Colorado. The body goes to Mayfield Kentucky for burial as Ollia Reed travels to Kentucky for the funeral. The couple recently married in Mayfield where Mary worked as a millinery trimmer.

Guests searched for miniature red hatchets hidden around the house and Miss Anna Andrae found the first, earning a china plate.
