Cincinnati February 15 Judge Hollister granted a permanent injunction against the Jeffries Roblin prizefight at Saengerfest ball tomorrow night promoters will postpone the event while they appeal to the circuit and supreme courts. Jeffries and Runne remain in the future but unsettled over the legal wrangle ahead.
More than twenty boys employed in the tin mill department at the Licking Rolling Mill in Jovington Kentucky walked off the job on Wednesday. They protested four cents per box and demanded five cents while planning a meeting behind scrap iron to elect James Green as President. The union urged solidarity but the president chose to keep the mill running awaiting workers to return with a parent for reinstatement.
Louis Hellensmith, 18 or 19, indicted for burglary, slipped from jail doors during a Saturday escape attempt. Sheriff Grimes and two trusted colored men pursued. Ernest Miller spotted him in South Huntsville, ordered him from a barn with a fence picket, and Hellensmith surrendered, returning to jail before the sheriff arrived.
Jefferson City Feb 15 Senator Smith of St Louis introduces a measure to force theater managers to turn away patrons after seats are filled. He argues packed houses are dangerous and seek to prevent overcrowding.
V D Bradsher purchased from a gentleman the M A Metty farm of 200 acres located about three miles south of here at 22.50 an acre. The farm is described as a fine property and the price is noted as remarkably low by those in the area. Clifton Hin Rustler reports.
