Aluminium Pattern Foundry of Lincoln Illinois representatives BLE Coffman and J W White arrived in the city this morning to study local conditions for a potential new factory. The firm makes aluminum signs wave plates street numbers and advertising novelties and engages in related metalwork.

The firm employs about 30 people year round and will present a proposal to the Commercial Club to relocate to Maberly. They seek no bonus and request the city to contract for numbering residences and displaying street names on aluminum plates.
Burgess and Strasnider of the Moberly Portrait Co propose a syndicate to open a picture frame factory in Moberly this summer promising 150 jobs in 18 months. They seek a city lot worth 500 to 800 with Commercial Club backing. Moberly factory will use 50 plus workers and contracts from Kansas City could sustain over 1000 workers.
Plans and specifications are at Mechanics Bank for bidders on the Merchants hotel work. Contractors must call and examine the documents, with bids due by March 1, while Joe Kirby visits home folk in the city.
The Moberly city council held a special session with most members present except Roberts. Rev Campbell urged enforcement of Sunday closing laws and noted 5900 Christians patronize six days a week, asking merchants to close on Sunday. Officials read ordinances and ordered enforcement. Other actions included hydrant petition on West Carpenter Fort, a City Teamster resignation, and a salary rate change bill tabled. Plank location and alley garbage rules discussed. Poultry house proposal on Sturgeon street was killed. Council adjourned to meet in March.
Two men donate a car load of coal to the poor of Moberly before Saturday night. M Williams and J Fleming fund the gift with guidance from Benevolent Union ladies Mrs Clapp Mrs Fleming and Mrs Williams to verify eligibility and deliver one load per family. The gesture comes amid a severe blizzard and is valued at about $60 plus delivery costs. In a separate note, Will Harris and John Schafer pleaded guilty to assaulting their uncle Buck Randall and were fined one dollar plus costs.
The executive committee of the Commercial Club must have full attendance as two factory propositions will be considered. The measures are vital to the city’s prosperity and no member can be absent despite other engagements.

Guests enjoyed progressive flinch and dominoes and a luncheon, with red white and green décor and three link emblem on display. Will O Keefe and wife reported a healthy baby boy. Jack Sherman arrived from California for a visit before returning to St Louis. Rev Campbell preaches tonight at Northwest and Thursday at Northeast chapels.
The Good Time Club gathered last evening at J H Babcock's home hosted by him and Mrs J H Babcock and by Mr and Mrs I Fy May. Members were limited by sickness and bad weather yet a happy party enjoyed a Wabash timetable game with a train theme and a collector with a punchbowl band. Mrs Geo Davis and Mr Frank Clark found a hand made collar and an ivory knife at Omaha depot. Mrs Clarris visited, guests included Mrs Davis and Mrs Spragg. A musical program closed with Mrs Frank Tutt s touching solo.
A party ends with guests expressing many regrets as they leave a pleasant place and return home. Tailwinds of nostalgia linger after the farewell.
A heater defect ignited a blaze at Mcffilton and Morse poultry barn in west Moberly last night. The fire destroyed the barn, about 50 dollars of choice chickens, a large quantity of feed and three incubators, with total losses around 500 dollars impacting the local poultry operation heading into spring.
