John Held, a Wabash machinist, will wed Miss Sallie Prather in Oska loosa Iowa at 7:30 PM at the Johnston residence. The couple plans to visit Moberly relatives Christmas week before deciding where to establish their home.
The U S Supreme Court rules for Nebraska in a Missouri river boundary dispute. The decision states that shifting the river’s course does not transfer land from Nebraska to Missouri and that the boundary remains along the river’s old midpoint as it stood before any change. Justice Harlan authored the opinion.
Local shop announces arrival of fur scarfs described as fine with no others like them. Mention of other articles for Nemas indicates a limited assortment and emphasis on unique fur accessories.
Moberly resident James V Hearn plans to marry a local girl before year end. The Democrat offers congratulations to the couple as the community notes the engagement.
Mrs. Kate Craig sues Mike Pearson over a cow bought from Phil Craig. After hearing evidence the magistrate took the case under advisement and will render a decision tomorrow. Mrs. Craig claims ownership and argues Craig had no right to sell it.
Open at night at Mechanics Savings Bank on Wednesday to enable residents to pay county taxes before penalties. County Collector LC Grants will attend. Mrs. Jinda J. Sears, grand matron of the Eastern Star in Missouri, from Lablata, Mo., attends the Randolph Chapter No 150 installation along with Mrs. Ella Jeiss, grand lecturer from Kansas City. All members urged to attend.
The council met in special session to hear street railway promoters and outline contract plans. An ordinance was passed to tax West and Place property owners for street paving. Williams proposed Oakland cemetery lots be used for vaults and a storm shelter house. Camplin and Mahan named to study the idea. The street commissioner was ordered to begin a cleanup of debris and notify owners to clear behind their lots. The council adjourned to meet in January.
Caboose RB R Welda joins the Wabash as passenger brakeman after No 14 journal failure near Montgomery City. No injuries reported though the 624 broke a journal. Wabash cites freight car shortages, plans to eliminate coal chutes at Pattonsburg and build new ones at Gallatin and Marion Spain. switchman departs with family for Pittsfield Illinois for Christmas.
Mrs. E. S. Root longtime Magic City resident dies at her Jacksonville home. Body to arrive in Moberly Thursday. funeral at the station with interment in Oakland cemetery. She is mother of Jay J. Root and Mrs. Ida B. Tall.
Engineer P M Coakley purchased the six room residence at Sok Conennnon Street yesterday. He plans to hold the property for speculation, expecting it to yield a good profit for the new owner due to its convenient location.
The Fourth Street M. K. church ladies held their annual bazaar on Reed Street in the vacated I. B. Torney building. Hundreds dined on rich browned turkey and side dishes, with a large display of fancy work selling quickly at low prices. Supper served 5 to 7 with 25 cent meals. Mayor A. C. Dingle, in Chillicothe hospital after surgery, hopes to return for Christmas dinner. City council sent regrets for Abin's absence and wished the mayor a swift recovery.
The Democrat reports that three children of Jas. McCully, owner of a drift coal mine near Mount Elope church, are prostrated with scarlet fever.
