A representative group of business men formed to protest with the Commercial Club, following a call by President Scott. The meeting opened with Scott presiding and BR. B. Kealey elected secretary as discussions began on coordinated action.
Local merchants and business leaders in Moberly protest the proposed withdrawal of two passenger trains by the Wabash line. They warn of economic loss to city firms, inconveniences to travelers, and urge courteous handling by rail officials. Committee formed to press Superintendent Goodrich and report back to the club.
Miss Micurine Diurley hosts a picnic at Miller's Lake with Miss Weldon and about twenty friends. The group, chaperoned, left the Dan at dawn and prepared baskets for a day of sociability, reading, and visiting the library.
Ladies of Yeneth Street organize a colorful touring event making a world journey through France Germany Ireland Japan and other lands. Each stop features home venues along Williams and Robling streets with decorated themes, wagons depart every fifteen minutes, and a small admission aids the new Sunday school fund.
Special front New Orleans report details fever totals to date with 62 total cases and 67 deaths. Dr White of the marine hospital corps says the situation is under control and the fever can be stamped out within forty days with proper precautions. Most new cases cluster in the downtown infected area as containment begins to show effect.
The probate court yesterday handed Sam L. Brown guardian of Joseph Brown a verdict for $200 against Cee CG in the case Brown v. Cee. The suit sought $250, with both parties residing near Jacksonville. AL Wyn McGoy and daughter Miss Bertha left for Higher to visit WW Thomson and family, planning a ten day stay including a Sunday school convention.
