The council met in regular session last night with all members present. Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. A petition was read to pave Fifth Street from Coates to Rollins and filed. A petition for sewer work at South Park school and running along the alley between Fourth and Fifth was discussed.
The board reviews petitioned paving and sewer projects on Taylor, Pilat, Bedford and West streets, with reports approving or delaying work. Officials discuss water supply, park fencing, and extended sewer lines west of the city, while committee reports and tax bills are filed and discussed.
A guardian appointment and a probate suit mark a busy morning. A man sues his grandfather’s estate for 1250 dollars alleging work performed over ten weeks, while another guardian case proceeds, with court dates set and attorneys listed amid other local notices and a traffic incident report.
A small fire on West Rollins Street at the Williamson home was extinguished after firefighters arrived to find a blaze likely sparked by crossed electric wires. Crews cut power and secured the area, preventing further damage to the Patrick Williamson family residence.
No appointment has been made yet as Governor Polls considers Randolph County's prosecutor post. The Democrat received word the decision will not occur today and could come tonight or tomorrow.
