W. D. Scampton died this morning at about 9:00. He came to Moberly in 1898 and led Milbank Scampton Milling Co as treasurer and secretary. Born December 12 1868 in Madison Wisconsin he married Laigy Milam in 1896. He was a railroad man and longtime civic leader, active with Coates Street Presbyterian Church and the Knights Templar. Funeral arrangements not yet set. City Council to meet tonight with plans for water plant inspection. Temperature outlook cooler in extreme east tonight and Tuesday.
