School contest between Parthenean and Twentieth Century
The inter society contest at Halloran's theatre last night in Moberly high school drew a large crowd. The Parthenean won four of five numbers with strong showings in recitation by Margaret Murray, oration by Rachel Tait, and essay by Lula Hicks. Debate featured the prompt about inventors and authors with Partheneans prevailing.

Needle in Foot Injures Johnnie Goetze at Home
Master Johnnie Goetze son of Prof. Johannes Goetze of South Clark street suffered a painful accident while dressing yesterday morning. He stepped on a broken sewing needle buried in his foot and required an operation to remove the rusty fragment. He is progressing as well as can be expected today.

Independent Telephone Meeting Should Attract 1000 Delegates
At the Commercial Club meeting Secretary Clapp outlined chasing an August Missouri venue for the Independent Telephone Companies state meeting. Aiming for 1000 delegates, the club would host to welcome attendees and cover costs, with 1600 attendance target and potential net profits of 400. A baseball fundraiser at Miller's park for Rollins Street Cemetery funds was also proposed with two strong exhibition teams.

The Moberly lodge held an 86th anniversary with a musical and literary program. Rev. R. Campbell spoke on Good Fellowship. W H L Bradley attended and spoke on order matters. A banquet followed offering sandwiches, coffee, salads, pickles, ice cream and cake.

John Jones Promoted to Trainmaster on Wabash
Conductor John Jones of East Coates Street is named trainmaster for the Buffalo division with headquarters at St. Thomas Canada under Superintendent A. E. Robins. He will assume duties around May 1 and receives a salary increase and greater advancement prospects. Born in 1871 at Poristell Missouri, Jones has risen from water boy to passenger conductor and yardmaster, now one of the western division’s most popular figures. He is married with one child and is a twin brother of I. Jonas, a passenger conductor.

Mrs Geo Nelson presided as charmings hostess at the Ladies Auxiliary to B of L I Tuesday afternoon. Rain reduced attendance but duet performances by Mephancs Leonard and Ahem Nelson pleased all. A flower game tied Mrs Marvin Rowland and Mrs Geo W Morsrey with Rowland winning a bouquet. Refreshments of caramel ice cream and cake followed. Elk talks by J R Wickerson Fred Myers and B Clapp, and R F Keeley announced City Attorney Oake Hunter would travel to St Louis to assist Mr Kirby.

Live Wire Found On Fence Behind Boarding House
A live electrical wire was spotted swaying with sparks at Mrs Hunt er's boarding house on South Fourth Street. Harry Bassett, a Wabash brakeman, grabbed it to test if it was live and suffered a burns before releasing it. The electric light company was notified and attended to the hazard.
