Weltmer Institute proprietors plead guilty in postal case

Stephen A Weltmer and Joseph W Kelly owners of the Weltmer Institute of Magnetic Healing in Nevada Missouri pleaded guilty in Kansas City to nine counts charging postal law violations. Sentencing deferred. They ran a $250000 a year business before a fraud order halted mail and $30000 in cash was found among mailed materials. Senator Burton urged leniency, saying motives were good and ads were written by a St. Louis agency without their input.

Fort Branch thefts lead to 11 year old arrest in Gibson county

Evanaville Indiana reports Montas Bower aged 11 was arrested at Fort Branch by Deputy US Marshal Jesse Peck and jailed. He admitted robbing the post office several times after entering behind the postmaster and accessing the safe. Some dollars were taken intended to buy cigarettes. He may be released soon as his mother is ill in a local hospital.
