In Manila on April 25 Col John M Stotsenberg a Nebraska volunteer fell at the head of his men as his regiment charged the Fourth cavalry. He was struck through the heart and died within moments. Lieutenant Sisson was killed half an hour later. The regiment suffered heavy losses.
