Dr J F Mercllon placed an order for a new Vietor dental Xray machine to be installed in his well equipped dental parlor. The device is described as a modern, widely endorsed instrument by leading dentists nationwide.

Jefferson City Mo April 23 after an all day session the Senate acting as a committee of the whole whipped its substitute for the house bone dry bill into shape and passed it just before six oclock by a vote of 32 to 7 The measure came from the Tower House and will not be recognizable by its friends when returned There was a roll call on the bill as amended and expurgated and emasculated and otherwise mal treated by the upper house of the assembly Senators voting for the bill Belken Bowker Brownlee Buford Casey Cunningham Duncan Glick Goodson Gray Green Harris Harrison McClintic McCullough McGruder McKilight Mayes Sone ker Stirk Wix and Young Total 32 Senators voting against the bill Anderson Brogin Depghiheuer Tider Gardner Lysaght and Warner Total 7 Absent Senators Cook Livessig Kinney and Fickete
An internal revenue expert from the tax office will address Moberly business men at the Commercial Club Friday night at 7 30. Chas G Ropers will summarize the new law and its impact on individual merchants while Christian Chute hosts a cook out at Hale Bros and Sten unis on Reed Street all day Saturday.
A fair turnout heard Percy Morgan of the New Walek organization outline how to revive commerce and mobilize citizens. He cited San Francisco and Dayton as examples and urged timely action here to start a reconstruction plan.
A train of Colorado soldiers from the 167th Infantry, 49th Division, arrived in the area this morning. Veterans from the Philippines and Meuse-Argonne campaigns, they spoke with English with varied accents. One man noted a French peasant girl preferred a Black soldier to a White American. The group planned a lunch with canteen girls before heading to Denver for a Victory Loan demonstration.
The board approved routine funds for current expenses and re elected the regular teaching staff of Moberly schools with exceptions for two applicants. Janitors were re employed and the superintendent’s resignation was discussed for broader administration. Also notes on Burlingon district pay and a local social life item.
John A Massmann died this morning at 9220 o'clock at the family home. Born March 28 1866 in St Charles he was reared in the city and spent most of his life in the painting trade. Surviving relatives include his father Henry Mossmann five brothers Frank Gus Toe Tony Lew two sisters Josephine Mumte of Moberly and others. Funeral at 4 o'clock Friday in St Johns church with high mass by Rev Carney burial in St Marys cemetery.
Washington April 23 The war department announced revised A E F totals showing 235,950 casualties with 5,344 total deaths and increases of 1,164 and 305 in respective categories. The corrections reflect updated figures since the last report.
A rousing victory bond meeting was held at the Wabash shops at noon led by Charman C Q Hon and Wa Mas ten. A large attendance expressed finest spirit while the rally described victory and peace commitments. Chair Mayy Hon Ey Vy Lamb addressed the crowd and the committee urged Wabash men to fulfill their gun duty with confidence in a great postwar effort.
Berkeley Calif April 28 the University of California has arranged a special course of study on French ideals for the coming summer session. Dr Charles Case tre professor of American civilization at the university of Paris will conduct the course strengthening Franco American friendship and academic ties.
Naval flying boats will begin a trans Atlantic flight soon as Wing NC 2 travels to N 61, carrying crew and a 2850 pound load. In other news Mrs Erma Wright died yesterday near Middle Grove after health decline linked to influenza and TB. she taught school and was a Madison High School graduate. Funeral at Madison Christian Church tomorrow noon with burial in Madison cemetery.

Paris April 23. The Paris correspondent reports Italy may seek a separate peace with Germany, the plan triggering a threat to withdraw from the peace conference. Talks failed to progress at the noon session as Premier Orlando did not attend and delegates exchanged views on fate of Fiume and Balkan issues.
Chicago April 23. Record hog price reached 21 10 dollars in St Louis market. The figure marks a new high for 1919, ten cents above yesterday’s top for the year. Delegates noted Orlando will leave for the form tion.
