The Cincinnati Wa jqsher notes a bridge collapse after a flood on the Catawba River when a passenger train crossed a series of trestles. Engineer Metcalf and Fireman Rhyne stayed to test the bridge. the engine sank, leaving Rhyne trapped but later rescued.
The Natka yawl owned by Richard P. Hart resumes voyage after a nine and a half month journey. She sailed from New York up the Hudson through the Great Lakes and Mississippi to the Gulf, returning via Florida and the Atlantic coast before docking back in the upper Hudson.
In the House of Commons St John Broderick secretary of state for war said the cost of the South Africa war in the past ten weeks was 1 500 000 pounds about 7 500 000 dollars per week. Irish Nationalist cheers greeted the announcement.

Notice is hereby given that letters of guardianship and curatorship on the estate of Mrs Emma Sackett, a person of unsound mind, were granted. The probate court of Randolph county Missouri at Moberly granted them on the 25th day of March 1901 Roy Sackett y Guardian and Curator. Claims against the estate must be shown for allowance within one year from the letters date or be barred. Also an advertisement for Al Guard's Snow Liniment appears.
