Mitchell defeats Madison 6 to 5 in a hard fought high school football game at the University field. Betts goal after a defensive struggle gave Mitchell a 6 0 halftime lead. Madison rallied in the second half for a touchdown but failed the kick. The match was intense with strong team defense and standout play by Dickson Storer Vassar Medley and Betts. A large crowd of boys gathered at the city hall Y M C A rooms on Friday evening to vote in a mock election led by Secretary Whitaker. Democratic state ticket candidates include Governor Roddell Warne and Frank McGraw among others. Republicans nominated Vernon Waterman and a slate of aides.

Farewell Reception For Rector and Wife At Local Guild Event
Large turnout of St Marys Guild ladies and friends gathered at Dr and Mrs Freybergs for a farewell reception to honor Rector A W Bell and his wife on their imminent departure. Mayor Hitchcock presented a purse of money as a token of regard. Mr Bell thanked attendees and praised church officers and guildwomen. Mrs Bell plans to leave for Rapid City, then Spearfish after Mr Bells election.

Mitchell to Get New Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul Depot
Milwaukee company will build a brick passenger station at the south end of Main Street in Mitchell. The 200 by 26 foot two story depot features waiting rooms, lunch facilities, baggage and express rooms, a ticket office, and parking space. Construction starts immediately with completion targeted by August 1, 1909 at an estimated cost of 35000 dollars.
