Pension official fights Tanner charges in Washington
George Baker of the board of pension appeals disputes Tanner’s claims labeling them inspired by revenge. He denies ever seeking or being examined for a pension post and recalls a prior Gazette division role before joining the board in October 1886. Baker defends Gen. Bussey’s rulings and criticizes Tanner’s alleged handwriting claim as false.
