Berlin reports five more Antwerp forts, including Kessel and Brochen, have fallen to German siege guns and Antwerp's capitulation is expected within days. Von Kluck shifts to outflank the Allies from the north and east while light fighting continues along the Somme Meuse fronts.

A New York World staff correspondent reports German forces have captured about 205,000 prisoners from British French Russian and Belgian armies. Of these men about 83,000 passed through Cologne with 59,000 French 17,000 Belgian and 7,000 British. Prisoner numbers total 112,000 for the Turkish forces.
