Death of Monnie Lee A gifted young musician dies in Chicago
Miss Monnie Lee, a musically gifted young woman from Mitchell, died in Chicago on Sunday morning after visiting for studies in music with her twin sister Myrtle. She and Myrtle had moved to Chicago last summer to pursue music, both graduates of Dakota University. The community mourned as services at the Methodist church drew a large crowd, with tributes from professors, students, and friends. A grand funeral proceeded to Graceland cemetery following a house-to-church procession and interment.
