Milledgeville church tunes bold song into hymn
A Milledgeville Methodist revival sprinkled Good-by My Lover Good-by into There is a Fountain Milled With Blood, turning a popular plantation ballad into a church tune. Night after night the new interpretation rang out, drawing smiles as a novelty waned then settled into the church song service. The tune, once seen as a Sabbath desecration, now opens Sundays in good taste. The Macon Tele notes this shift in a regional taste for liturgical music.
