Berwind Witness Details Cap Trafalgar Sinking

Berwind captain testified how Hamburg American Line ships aided Cap Trafalgar and Pontas with coal and food from New York to the Atlantic in August and September 1914. The Cap Trafalgar and Pontas fought Britons Carmania and another boat, sinking the Trafalgar after gun transfers and a prolonged chase near the Atlantic coast.

Commercial Club Luncheons Planned for Three Months

The Commercial Club approved luncheons on the first and third Mondays for the next three months at the Widmann hotel starting December 6. A committee led by W. H. Fritz and including John Kirvink B. Freeman Oldewurtel Postmaster Dies in Freeman

Carl Oldewurtel, postmaster of Freeman, died at age 45 after a months long illness from consumption. Born in Germany, he settled in Hutchinson county and worked as a carpenter in Freeman, the Black Hills, and Sioux City. Funeral held at 1 PM in the Lutheran church with Rev. Schroeder officiating. his wife and three children survive as voters petitioned to keep the post office open for her support.

Night Riders Pistol Battle Near Clarkton Missouri

In southwest Clarkton five night riders and two detectives were wounded as a day-long pursuit ended with captures.
