Also notes on land offers, insurance, hair switches, and ads for farming positions and misc. items.
An official Petrograd despatch says German forces retreated from Luck toward the lakes and Russian cavalry defeated troops protecting a railway station near Weidenberg. Berlin reports failure of an assault on East Prussia via Wirballen route with Russians driven back across the frontier.
Fred Reuterstrom proposes uniting most Mitchell fraternal orders to erect a shared temple. Lodges without own homes such as Knights of Pythias and Eagles would gain entry. Masons, Elks and Odd Fellows likely stay separate. The building would feature a large lodge room, club rooms, kitchen, baths and gymnasium to serve multiple orders.
Mrs. Jessie Bilyns is jailed in Webster South Dakota pending Nebraska court requisition papers on a warrant for abandoning her home and eloping with Charles Schroeder. She says she left after disputes with her husband over property and that Schroeder owed her $400. The four children accompany her.
The Hanson county courthouse fire thirteen years ago destroyed citizenship records, delaying a Hanson county native now in California whose son, a missionary in Egypt, cannot obtain a passport. The son would have become a citizen at twenty one if records survived. a new court application is required and will wait until the January term.
