Aberdeen SD Navy 17 reports Great Northern representatives who visited Saturday followed the proposed line toward Pierre, not Mitendale as claimed. Names appear on the hotel register at High marshate Pighmore along the route, bolstering the plan to build a line from Aberdeen to the capital next summer.
J J Browne of this county, who served as speaker during the last legislature, is being spoken of for the speaker role in the upcoming session. He guided the house through key issues such as the capital removal debate and the insurance bill with respect from members across factions. The last legislature authorized the penitentiary warden to quarry stone for a capitol and advocates urge immediate construction while others prefer delaying until state lands gain value. Public opinion leans toward keeping or moving the seat amid safety concerns of the current building.
Mrs George Harris of Powell township Edmunds county was found dead at the bottom of a four by nine foot well after her buggy struck the well while returning from her sister’s home. Her six children and husband survive. The accident allegedly involved a stray horse and a failed climb from the well. The scene and faint witness accounts point to a drowning struggle and exhaustion.
Plankinton, S D. Nov. 15. Editor Taubman of the Herald survived a gunshot attack in his office on November 6. A reward of 1000 dollars posted by the city council for the arsonist’s arrest and conviction. Taubman had recently published a disputed article and cites enmity among politicians as a possible motive. A posse searched the town but the assailant remains at large.

Aberdeen South Dakota November 15 The federal grand jury returned an indictment against Gaver for the murder of Rain bolt on the Rosebud. Cook Graver's companion was not indicted due to insufficient evidence. The jury refused to indict Thomas W Taubman of the Plankinton Herald for printing improper matter.
Obituary notes the death of N Hanson a pioneer of Clay County and former Vermillion resident. He traveled from Denmark forty years ago and spent time in Copenhagen hospital before returning home two weeks ago for deathbed closure. Immortal services set at Lutheran Church.
