Thanksgiving day proclamation from Pierre South Dakota dated November 11 1892 calls for November 24 a day of thanks and unity. The county results in Davison show Republican losses and Independent gains with complex shifts in governor congress and county offices amid a fusion strategy and local party maneuvers.
Two years after Clark County backed Loucks by 550 and handed county offices to Independents, this year Harrison electors lead by 115, Sheldon by 7, Pickler by 24, Lucas by 12, and Republicans win a state senator, one representative, and six county posts. Ruralist urges referendum arbitration and state insurance for the next legislature.
New York November 17 Hon Thomas H Carter chairman of the Republican national committee has gone to Washington. He says he is preparing a statement to be released after meeting the president. He believes the Democratic victory is sweeping and not due to local causes. He cites heavy demand for national speakers and points to free trade and tax on state banks as major issues. He notes good weather did not affect the result and mentions 40 000 000 tariff documents sent to voters.
The Rockford Plow Company assigns under financial strain. Liabilities total about 70,000 dollars while assets are around 110,000. Managers say prolonged trouble led to the decision to close the business.
St Johns dispatch reports the steamship State of Georgia put in badly damaged after storms following departure from the Straits of Belle Isle. No deaths reported. The vessel carried 150 head of cattle.

A London dispatch reports that a Bejar restaurant collapse during a wedding feast killed seven people and injured about thirty. The social wedding party of two score was crushed and removed as debris. The accident underscores a calamitous disaster in Sala manca.

Colonel C. H. Thompson, a special United States Indian agent, while walking from the agency office to his lodgings in Detroit Minnesota slipped on ice and sustained a probable fracture of the left hip and serious injuries.
