Harry Harmon encounters a steel Australian police club that combines a billy with a mowing machine like knife release. When a prisoner grasps the club, blade blades shoot from surface slits, inflicting multiple gashes as the handle spring retracts, weapon linked to wrist attachment.

Messrs Anderson and Clark representing a grist mill firm now at Waucoma Indiana arrived in Mitchell yesterday seeking a local site. A noon meeting chaired by Geo Silsby formed a committee to discuss value adding enterprise for farmers and plan a follow up after 4:30 pm. An agreement with the visitors is expected tomorrow.
The Mason City special reports the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul strike on the Iowa and Dakota division ended successfully today. Management granted the brake men’s demands and Boone was reinstated. No more doubleheaders will run except in extreme necessity. The effect was barely felt locally.

The Mitchell city council adopted a resolution to fund 150 dollars and require Bowdle and Hunter to supply about 1400 feet of 1 3 4 inch lap welded pipe to lay from the water works to the fair grounds. The pipe becomes city property and the fair association can use the water rent free for three years while maintaining the line. The water main taps policy was amended to make property owners pay from the street centerline. The marshal was named fire warden to inspect chimneys and stoves. A large number of bills were approved.
