Funeral Services for Horace L. Shepherd Held at Local Methodist Church
Horace Llewellyn Shepherd, born July 1 1886 in Cass County North Carolina, died after a period of suffering. The service at the Methodist church featured Rev H S Wilkingson and tribute from several clergy. He was laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery as the family mourns a third son lost in twenty months.

Accident at Armour Widens Tragic Fire Toll
A gas plant explosion at the residence of James Carland in Armour around 10 am Saturday wrecked the house and started a fire. Mrs. Carland died, two children were severely burned, and the man fixing the acetylene device was mortally injured. Mrs. Carland survived about a half hour after the blast.

Robbers at Omaha Depot Steal Hand Luggage and Rifle
Wisconsin travelers left a grip containing goods and a Winchester rifle in the Omaha depot waiting room while waiting for a train. They returned minutes before departure to find the grip and gun gone, valued at about $30. Chief Keith was notified before the train pulled out.
