Give Up Pennies Crowds Urged By Mitchell Bankers
Mitchell bankers and business men urge residents to bring pennies to Sunday School as a remedy for coin shortages. A church penny box emptied into a local bank, a thin supply of nickels, and plans to reward purchases with small premiums highlight a broader effort. Banks in Sioux Falls and Sioux City report ongoing restrictions on small change and higher denomination orders being refused. Local ticket offices also face penny shortages, prompting proposals to use cent stamps as a substitute.
