University Protons Show Packed Night of Arts

Lindey Shurtleff presented a chalk talk titled A Tragedy in Black and White, revealing strong facial expression skills. Mrs. Chas Locke performed difficult club exercises to praise, followed by a seven character farce A Mouse Trap, praised as a screaming hit. The university library added shelf space to house growing book donations.

Pardoned From Penitentiary Frank Trudell Granted Liberty

Frank Trudell, sentenced to ten years for rape in 1892, has been pardoned after a petition backed by W H Helwig and local supporters. The pardoning board recommended clemency to the governor, and Trudell is expected to return later this week. The case involved Rose Vandernacker with trial records detailing the events and subsequent appeal.

Hallowe'en Night Patrols Keep City Quiet Yet Minor Mischief Appears

Observers under Chiefs Rogers and Hall prevented major disturbances on Hallowe'en with extra patrols on both city sides. Some outhouses were overturned and a few gates removed, and a sign or two exchanged. A dental sign was lowered from Becker's store but returned to its place by noon. A fire alarm triggered on Saturday. firemen located a blaze at Mr Keyes's house and quickly extinguished it after initial misdirection at the roundhouse.

Wedded at Vermilion and Union Meeting Joyful

Davison wed Clay with Elmer Crandall of Ethan and Dora Miller of Meckling at Vermillion on Thursday. The couple return to Ethan to reside. Advertising Car to Tour South Dakota from La Crosse

The Hunter Salzer Leenegsare advertising car, loaded with irrigation farm products and publications, plans a winter trip from La Crosse Wisconsin to the east and south. Several men will ride to distribute literature and explain irrigation benefits in South Dakota. Mr. Hunter will travel part of the time with the car.
