Ballot Replacement Rules and Verification Procedures
Voters spoiled ballots may obtain up to three replacements by returning the spoiled ballot to ballot clerks. The voter’s name and spoiled ballot number must be recorded, with the number noted as spoiled. Spoiled ballots are canceled, and all ballots distributed or undistributed are sealed and sent to the county auditor the day after the election. Clerks file a tally of voted, spoiled, and undelivered ballots with the county auditor. Careful adherence minimizes errors as sample ballots have been widely distributed.
