Bathing Train for the Russians near Warsaw

In trenches west of Warsaw detachments of about 200 Russian soldiers daily queue for a weekly bath aboard a nine car bathing train. The carriage fleet includes a disinfecting section, Turkish bath style steam, grooved floors, and a system of clean linen and checked uniforms after disinfection. Soldiers, after a week under fire, eagerly scrub before rejoining combat duties.

Mitchell plans large Fourth of July celebration at Riverside Park

Riverside Park in Mitchell will host Independence Day festivities on July 5 featuring baseball, dances, band concerts, races, and an evening fireworks display. A new 74 by 100 foot pavilion, slated for screening and rain protection, gains a formal ice cream parlor and soda fountain. The Riverside Park band, led by John Carfarro, rehearses 18 pieces, with free public concerts. An electric light plant partially arrives to illuminate the pavilion and band stand, and jitney buses will transport attendees to the park.

The Corn Belt baseball league with teams from Alexandria Bridgewater Canistota Emery Montrose Salem and Spencer announced the season schedule running June 6 to August 29. State railway commission fixes switching charges in state

Pierre South Dakota The state railway commission issues orders on switching charges and local interchange rates to curb high fees. Local industrial switching now capped at one cent per hundred weight with five dollar minimum per car for most products, with lighter classes at three fourths cent and five dollar minimum. Additional three dollar per car charge applies to receiving road in interchanges. Rates take effect July first. Night telephone service ordered for Dakota Central Telephone at Frankfort with rural line and business connection increases. Freight service between Watertown and Huron set with weekly and midweek round trips, limited service on certain days.

Improved grass and country demand support steady to higher marks, with light runs and active packing.
