Severe storm and hail injure Woonsocket homes

Woonsocket on May 7 endured a severe thunderstorm with heavy hail. Windows broke on several buildings including D O Roots Gallery skylight. Alanson Pecks house struck by lightning damaged stove carpets and floor. Mrs Peck briefly unconscious. No country damage reported. Farmers busy seeding.

Plankinton Court Wrangle Ends With Fine For Elder Holmes

In Plankinton a post meridian scrapping match between Elder Holmes and painter Charles Watts led to Holmes being knocked out early, arraigned in Justice Baum's court, and fined five dollars plus costs. Watts enters a not guilty plea with trial set for Saturday. The newly elected council chose John Rogers as president and approved bonds for other officers. Ex councilman Thos M Lindsey wed Lizzie Whittaker Wednesday evening at the bride’s parents north of Plankinton.

A 72 year old farmer Norman J Loundsbury shot and killed his wife 17 Horace Payson a nephew of the wife and then himself in a farm house four miles from Osage The killings followed alleged threats over suspected improper relations The shots were fired at close range with a shotgun and the bodies were found in a blood soaked room without survivors.
