Conference committee makeup shapes tariff bill fate
The tariff bill's final form hinges on conference committee personnel. Aldrich and Payne loom as likely leaders, with past committee veterans shaping the panel since McKinley and Wilson eras. President's influence could steer compromises amid competing interests. Cuba’s costs for intervention total eight million dollars. A St Louis husband faces divorce over biscuit-making, urging cooking training. Nebraska farmers press to keep sugar duties to protect their beet industry, questioning broader price impacts.
