New School Notes Highlight Enrollments and Events
Several new scholars enrolled in lower rooms while Mrs. M. H. Mohr visited the schools. A military drill is being organized for boys and girls. Frank McGovern Elbert Jackson and Dot Robinson re-enrolled this term. Some country boys failed to return likely due to work. Supt. Quigley toured larger towns including Sioux City and Omaha. Mae Preston donated a fine set of Scotts novels to the library.

August Schaup of Baker township was crushed when frightened mules pulled him under a wagon as he sought seed wheat at Bender Bros. The injury, a severe break near the hip, required setting by Dr. Crane and a long recovery. The West Side School Board selected Ellen Jackson to fill the unfinished term in the B and C grammar department after Miss Voorus’s temporary resignation.
