County Funds Safety Bill Moves Through Senate
South Dakota news item reports House Bill No. 57 reaching the senate with provisions to limit county funds deposits to approved banks, restrict the treasurer’s control to half the lands, and involve commissioners in bank selection. The measure drawn opposition from senate lawyers over constitutionality, but a committee report was passed. The report also notes reconsideration and passage of land grants for Spring field normal school and Redfield insane hospital, plus a nonfavorable vote on irrigation feasibility. Governor Sheldon submitted several regent appointments for educational institutions and a long contemplation of state government drains in a Mitchell residence notice.
