The minutes show the Board of County Commissioners meeting March 2 and 19 with members Moore Newell Blackman W H Webster and J W Gilfillan. They abated Charlies E Mason tax in Mitchell for 1902 and granted an updated valuation due to overassessment. They approved credentialed auditors report and settled various county bills including sheriff fees coal and care of county prisoners.
On Tuesday March 3 the board met at 9 40 a m with S J Moore W Ho Webster Newell Blackman J W Gilfillan and O M Butterfield present. The following bills were allowed Mitchell Printing Co for county officers stationery 12 85.
A special Mitchell meeting records tax motions, loan approvals for A B R Keiser and Anton Oster, school land loans, and tax abatement notes. It also notes a sudden death of citizen John Calvin, his life, public service, and funeral plans at the Congregational church.
The volunteer fire department held its annual election with three candidates for chief. F J Pardy won after George Liko withdrew. L E Willison was elected assistant chief, Reed Owen secretary, George Like treasurer, George Koehler timekeeper, and George Austin assistant timekeeper. A banquet followed with a generous spread.

Between 11 a.m. and closing on January 25, 1901, A. F. Clark of Glade Springs Virginia sold twelve bottles of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. He notes the medicine's strong local reputation and quick relief for coughs colds and grip. For sale by L. O. Gale in Glade Springs.
