Chicago. Calvin Demarest, a former national amateur billiard champion, stabbed his wife with a pocket knife and then slashed his own throat. Demarest’s mother tried to restrain him and cut her hand. The wife is in serious condition, Demarest is expected to recover. Police report says motive was a nervous breakdown.
