In Aberdeen a local family named Boobs is at the center of a dispute. Tony Boobs was jailed for selling intoxicants and later faced a 30 day sentence after a domestic quarrel with Mrs Booth and a boarder. South Dakota power sites eyed for nitrate plant
Senators Johnson and Sterling and Representatives Gandy and Dillon urged President Wilson to choose a site in South Dakota for a government nitrate plant. They highlighted Little Bend 35 miles northwest of Pierre and Big Bend 50 miles southeast, noting Little Bend could yield about 41 000 horsepower with a 19 mile river bend and a 126 000 horsepower mean potential. Big Bend offered more water but required a dam over two miles long. The president asked for careful examination of both sites and others before location.
