A Mitchell city meeting approved an artesian well contract with J B Shaw at 4.09 per foot to reach about 200 feet, with 12 inch top and 10 inch below, likely at the water works and costing around 2500 dollars. At a farm three miles south of Beresford South Dakota a fire in Wm Maher’s barn started by three children and matches. Maher entered the burning barn releasing five or six horses and suffered facial and hand burns. One horse died and two were severely burned while three other buildings were saved with neighbor help. No insurance coverage and total loss reported.
