The Pierre Capital-Journal notes state funds from public school lands have grown from 1890 distributions of 238 858 to 376 411 last year with December income implying around 400 000 this year. If current trends continue, annual funds could reach half a million before twenty years, aiding local taxes and ultimately reaching several million annually when all lands are sold or leased. Only about 300 000 of 2 179 884 acres donated have been disposed of, with early sales at minimum prices limiting potential totals.
