Captain Coursey of Company D reports Adjutant General Conklin sent word that the Mitchell band will be the second regiment band with Gov. Herrick’s approval. Conklin plans to inspect Company D around February 1 in Mitchell and muster the band accordingly. The men expect to be in good form after rehearsals to impress the governor and adjutant general.

Two Teachers Elected to New East Side School Post

The Mitchell board of education, after a special meeting, elected Miss Mamie Saul to fill Miss Anna Hannebuth's east side primary seat as the district expands. Miss Pearl Jackson was chosen for the new department, while overcrowded rooms prompt creating a new class with about 34 pupils. Mitchell's school census exceeds 1000 children.
