Steel telegraph poles offer cheaper, stronger option
In Janesville Wisconsin J H Huntress patents a steel lattice pole built from three inch wide strips forming a triangular cage fourteen inches across and up to sixty feet high. A sixty foot pole weighs about 300 pounds and can be handled by two men, selling at 50 cents a foot to compete with wooden poles. A separate brief notes a jury censuring parents for neglect in a Christian Science case and ordering prosecution of a healer for practicing medicine without a certificate.
