The Epworth League and Sunday School hosted a New Year reception in the Methodist church parlors. The dimmed rooms resembled a drawing room with handsome decorations. Over 200 guests enjoyed sherbet, cake, Rathbun's orchestra, and various musical solos, applauding the organizers' efforts.
The state board of charities and corrections with Gov. Lee toured Plankinton to review the reform school. Work will begin on the girls dormitory as soon as weather allows, using stone quarried and dressed by convicts at the state penitentiary.
