Kimball Champ of Coune, Iowa is jailed for embezzlement after failing for $800,000 with Eastern stockholders claiming about $100,000 as proceeds.

Vestibule train No. 11 on the East Tennessee railroad derailed in a cut near Williams station after rails spread. Seventeen passengers were injured, none seriously. A four-coach train smashed, with fifty feet beyond the cut a deep fill.
