Flame on Brush Creek Surface Indicates Gas Belt
Pierre February report says surface gas was found in Brush Creek in southeastern Butte county. A settler, using a spring for cattle water, lit a pipe and his match caused the surface to flare briefly, burning his hands. The burning pool then died out, suggesting a gas belt extending across western South Dakota.
