In Pierre on the 16th Kyle’s election in Tripp came as a near surprise. Democrats abandoned plans to broaden turnout, voting with Independents and Republicans to back Kyle. Eight Republican votes went to Tripp in a table turn, while Independents solidified for Kyle amid late shifts.
Sioux City Journal reports Senator Kyle as an independent who helped launch the party last June. He says the party could become a national force and will not fuse with others. He cites voting history with Democrats, prior Republicans, and supports law and tariff while noting no pledge on prohibition.
