Five Thousand Dollars For a Cheap Acquaintance
In Broommacton Illinois on February 11 a veteran Bloomington businessman, George Bradner, was targeted by two swindlers in a southern lottery ruse. A supposed eastern estate agent offered $60,000 to invest and a slick nephew figure claimed Bradner had just won $5,000. Bradner was led to a private room, deposited $5,000 as a good faith guarantee, and the pair fled with both sums, leaving locals baffled by the audacious scheme.
