Egan Seeks State Campaign Emphasis and Reform Proposals
South Dakota politics focus on agricultural development and education. Egan pledges a countywide speaking tour and a three member state board of control to replace two boards, aiming to curb patronage and expand state education and resources. He notes state appointees outnumber those in Nebraska and vows a strong gubernatorial fight, with Norbeck named as administration ally. He forecasts education as a key growth path and hints at rivalry with Byrne era policies.
